Storm and Rain in Jhargram Due to Depression in Bay of Bengal, Panic from Tornado-like Whirl in Sankrail

**Jhargram:** Due to the depression formed in the Bay of Bengal, rain has started in Jhargram along with various districts of South Bengal since Thursday morning. The sky has been cloudy since morning. Meanwhile, around noon, a powerful whirl resembling a tornado was seen in several areas of the Sankrail block of Jhargram district. The sudden sight of such a phenomenon spread panic among the local residents.

According to local sources, the whirl was formed in the areas of **Chunpara, Pratappur, and Tungadhua** in the Sankrail block during the afternoon with strong gusty winds. The whirl moved rapidly through open areas. Eyewitnesses claim that for a few moments, the situation became quite terrifying.

However, so far there have been no reports of significant damage. It has been reported that a few old trees have fallen due to the whirl. According to administration sources, there have been no reports of any houses being damaged so far.

According to the weather department's forecast, the depression formed in the Bay of Bengal could strengthen further and turn into a deep depression in the coming hours. As a result, heavy rain along with gusty winds may occur in various districts of South Bengal, including Jhargram.

The incident of a tornado-like whirl appearing in Sankrail has naturally spread panic in the area. The administration is keeping an eye on the situation. Local residents have also been advised to remain alert about the weather conditions.
