Grand Rath Yatra of Jagannath Dev in Digha, Expecting Attendance of Hundreds of Thousands of Devotees

Digha, East Medinipur:

The coastal town of Digha is immersed in a festive atmosphere centered around the holy Jagannath Rath Yatra. This year, it is expected that hundreds of thousands of devotees, pilgrims, and visitors from various parts of India as well as abroad will gather for the Rath Yatra.

Since morning, the temple premises have been bustling with devotees. Around 10:30 AM, through the traditional Pahandi-Vijaya ceremony, Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra will be brought out of the temple amidst Vedic chants, Harinam Sankirtan, and a devotional atmosphere. They will then be seated on three beautifully decorated chariots.

According to the organizers, from 1 PM to 2:30 PM, the three chariots will be adorned with flowers, garments, and traditional decorations. Special offerings will also be made to the deities seated on the chariots.

On this day, former Union Minister Shishir Adhikari is expected to be present as the chief guest at the temple premises at 3 PM. The inaugural ceremony of the Rath Yatra will take place from 3 PM to 3:30 PM.

Following this, at 3:30 PM, the grand Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra will commence. The chariots of the three deities will proceed towards the Gundicha Temple. Thousands of devotees have already started gathering in Digha to participate in this historic and religious event.

The administration has made special arrangements for security, traffic control, health services, and the convenience of the devotees. A festive atmosphere prevails throughout Digha surrounding the Rath Yatra.
