Joint Operation by Food Safety Department and Police in Sankrail, Hotel Shut Down for Lack of License

**Jhargram:** A joint operation was conducted by the Food Safety Department and police administration in various areas of the Sankrail block in Jhargram district to verify the quality of food items and the necessary documents of business establishments. The operation took place in multiple areas including Keshiyapata, Kultikuri, and Rohini Bazaar.

According to sources from the Food Safety Department, around 8 to 10 shops and food establishments were inspected in various markets of the Sankrail block on that day. The primary focus was on checking the quality of food items, the necessary documents of the shops, and whether they had a food license.

During the operation, some discrepancies were noticed in a few establishments. A sweet shop in the Kultikuri area was temporarily shut down due to irregularities. The shop authorities have been given time to make the necessary corrections.

On the other hand, during an operation at a hotel in Rohini Bazaar, it was found that the establishment did not have the necessary food license. Due to the lack of a license, the hotel was temporarily shut down by the administration. It has been reported that the establishment will have the opportunity to reopen only after completing the necessary licensing requirements.

However, several other shops and food establishments that were part of the operation were found to be in satisfactory condition, according to sources from the Food Safety Department.

Furthermore, it has been reported from the administration that police had previously conducted operations in various market areas of the Sankrail block. Such operations are being carried out to maintain the quality of food items and ensure food safety for the general public.

Present during the joint operation were Food Safety Department officials Suman Das and Gopal Choudhury, Sankrail police station's OC Soumen Sinha Mahapatra, and officials from the DB department.

The administration has stated that such operations will continue in various markets and food establishments in the Sankrail block in the coming days for the welfare of the general public and to ensure food safety.
