**Chandrakona:** The extensive area of Chandrakona in West Medinipur is submerged due to continuous low-pressure rain. Water has entered multiple villages. Flood conditions have developed in low-lying areas. Rice fields covering several acres have gone underwater. Farmers in the area are worried about the extensive damage due to the sudden influx of water.

According to local sources, since the day before yesterday, water has started to flood in rapidly in several low-lying areas of Chandrakona, including Jagannathpur, Yadupur, parts of Chhoto and Boro Angana, Baghpota, and the Chatal of Monsatala. The water level continues to rise due to the continuous rain. Already, vast agricultural lands have gone underwater.

Currently, it is the time for rice plants to bear ears. Farmers are fearing extensive crop damage due to water flooding the fields at this crucial time. With acres of rice submerged, farmers are in despair. They fear that if the stagnant water does not recede quickly, the extent of damage may increase further.

Not only agricultural land, but water has also entered the village roads. In some places, water is flowing over the roads, while in others, many houses are surrounded by water. As a result, local residents are facing extreme risks while commuting.

Since the area is low-lying, villagers are worried that if the rainwater does not recede quickly, the situation may worsen. Locals have demanded immediate action to normalize the situation in the submerged areas.
