Allegations of Government Rice-Wheat Smuggling, Tension in Sagarbhanga with Four Arrested

**Durgapur:** Tension erupted in the G-Block field area of Sagarbhanga Colony under the Kokovoven police station following allegations of illegal smuggling of government ration rice and wheat. It is alleged that attempts were being made to smuggle rice and wheat to other districts by buying them at higher prices from ration cardholders. Four individuals were reportedly detained in the incident. The Kokovoven police arrived at the scene after receiving the news.

According to local sources, government rations are distributed weekly in various areas of Sagarbhanga Colony. Accordingly, ration distribution was ongoing on Sunday in the G-Block field. Allegedly, after receiving the rations, some customers were trying to buy rice and wheat at inflated prices and transport them by bicycle and motorcycle to the Joydeb and Ilambazar areas of Birbhum.

Upon learning of the matter, BJP leader Rupam Lahar and BJP workers and supporters arrived at the scene and detained those individuals. Subsequently, the Kokovoven police were informed. The police reached the scene and reportedly took four individuals into custody and brought them to the police station.

Tension spread in the area surrounding the incident. The police are investigating how the government ration rice and wheat were being attempted to be taken elsewhere and whether anyone else is involved in this. An investigation into the incident has begun.
