According to local sources, a housewife from the Matalgar area bought a packet of Kalakand sweets from the shop on Thursday night for Janmashtami. When she opened the packet of sweets for the puja on Friday morning, she found black stains and a fungus-like coating on the sweets. After raising the complaint that the sweets were spoiled, family members went to the shop with the packet.

It is alleged that upon noticing the presence of the media, the shop owner changed the packet of sweets. Although initially, the shop owner denied the allegations of providing stale or spoiled sweets, it is claimed that his statement changed somewhat when questioned by the media.

Locals further alleged that there had been previous accusations against the shop for **selling expired cold drinks**. Additionally, they have raised questions about the shop's food license and trade license. They claim that the shop has been operating for a long time without the necessary permits.
