CPI(M) Protest March in Haroa with 16 Demands, Deputation at Village Panchayat
**Haroa:** The CPI(M) held a protest march and deputation program with 16 demands, raising allegations of corruption and irregularities in multiple government schemes, including the housing scheme. On Tuesday, there was significant enthusiasm among party workers and supporters surrounding this program organized by the CPI(M) area committee in Haroa.
The protest march began from the CPI(M) party office in Haroa. When the march reached the Haroa village panchayat office, CPI(M) leaders and workers submitted a deputation based on the 16 demands to the panchayat authorities.
The CPI(M) alleges that irregularities and corruption occurred in various government schemes, including the housing scheme, during the previous Trinamool government. The left party has demanded the public disclosure of accounts related to the relevant projects and action against those involved in corruption.
### What Demands Did CPI(M) Raise?
Among the 16 demands of the CPI(M), one of the key demands is to publish the list of all beneficiaries of the housing scheme and to bring all information related to the 'My Neighborhood, My Solution' project into the public domain. Additionally, they have demanded the registration of all women under the Annapurna Bhandar scheme and the disclosure of accounts for all panchayat projects since 2011.
Furthermore, there have been demands for a monthly wage of ₹27,000 for all workers, regulation of prices for petrol, diesel, cooking gas, and essential commodities. They have also demanded that the mid-day meal scheme not be handed over to private entities, the rapid inclusion of canceled valid voters in the voter list, and the elimination of wage disparities between men and women for equal work.
The CPI(M) has also raised demands for a monthly pension of ₹3,000 for farmers and agricultural laborers after the age of 60, and a universal social security pension of ₹10,000 for everyone. At the same time, they have demanded punitive action against panchayat members involved in corruption related to the housing scheme and the 100 days of work scheme.
### Multiple Demands for Infrastructure Development
The CPI(M) has raised several demands regarding infrastructure development in the area. They have called for arrangements for water drainage and drain construction in every village, prompt cleaning of all drains, paving of mud and brick-soled roads, and the renovation of local canals. Additionally, there has been a demand for the renovation of the Vidyadhari River in Haroa.
Present at the program were Gargi Chattopadhyay, one of the leaders of the CPI(M) workers' organization in the state, Imtiaz Hossain, one of the leaders of North 24 Parganas district, and Asif Alam, secretary of the Haroa area committee. Other leaders of the left front present included Bajlur Rahman, Sabir Ahmed, Najib Mandal, Muslima Alam, and Riziya Ahmed.
The CPI(M) leadership has stated that their movement will continue until transparency in government projects is ensured and the rights of the common people are established. Through this deputation, they have demanded prompt action from the panchayat authorities regarding the 16 demands raised.
