53 Smuggled Mobile Phones Recovered in Malda Before Being Smuggled to Bangladesh, Youth Arrested

**Malda:** The Malda district police recovered a large number of smuggled mobile phones before they could be trafficked to Bangladesh from Bihar. Acting on a tip-off, the Golapganj police conducted a raid and recovered 53 smuggled mobile phones and cash amounting to 70,000 rupees. A youth named Abdus Samad has been arrested in the incident.

According to police sources, late Sunday night, information was received through a secret source that a youth was in the area with a large number of smuggled mobile phones. Based on that information, the Golapganj police conducted a raid. During the operation, Abdus Samad was apprehended. A search revealed 53 mobile phones and cash amounting to 70,000 rupees in his possession.

The arrested youth is said to be from the Babupada area of Chori Anantpur in Malda, according to the police. Investigations are underway to determine where the recovered mobile phones were sourced from and who else is involved in this smuggling ring.

Malda District Superintendent of Police Anupam Singh stated that preliminary investigations indicate that the smuggled mobile phones were brought to Malda from Bihar. It is believed that there was a plan to smuggle them to Bangladesh. However, a youth was arrested before the smuggling could take place.

The police are trying to find other individuals connected to this smuggling ring by interrogating the arrested person. The actual ownership of the recovered mobile phones and the circumstances under which they were stolen or snatched are also being investigated.

Investigators are also looking into whether there is any connection between this smuggling of mobile phones and international border trafficking routes.
