Gold recovered again at Kolkata Airport, passenger arrested with over 70 grams of gold
**Kolkata:** Police arrested a passenger at Kolkata Airport on charges of gold smuggling. After receiving a tip-off, the police at NSCBI police station detained the passenger named Rabibhushan Tiwari as he was exiting the airport. According to police sources, more than 70 grams of gold was recovered from him after questioning.
Police sources revealed that investigators initially suspect that the individual had brought the gold to smuggle it from Bangkok to Kolkata. He was detained as soon as he stepped out of the airport after disembarking from the plane. Following interrogation, the gold was recovered from him.
The incident follows another recent gold recovery at Kolkata Airport. Last Monday, nearly 300 grams of gold was recovered at the airport. Investigators claim that the individual arrested in that incident was also attempting to smuggle gold from Bangkok to Kolkata. It is reported that police obtained crucial information about Rabibhushan Tiwari from questioning that individual.
Following this, investigators planned and waited at the airport. As soon as Rabibhushan emerged from the airport, he was detained. After interrogation, more than 70 grams of gold was recovered from him.
Investigators suspect that a large smuggling ring is operating behind this incident. They are trying to gather information about several others connected to the ring by interrogating the arrested individual. Investigators are examining how gold was being smuggled from Bangkok to Kolkata and where the smuggled gold was being delivered.
