Rescue of Pregnant Woman at Midnight, Police of Bhutni Thana Rushes with a Boat Amid Flood Waters

**Maldah:** Water all around. The entire area is without electricity. A strong current of floodwaters in the dense darkness. All communication routes are effectively cut off. In such a situation, the police of Bhutni Thana in Maldah set an example of humanity by rescuing a pregnant woman in labor pain and getting her to the hospital in the middle of the night.

The incident occurred late at night. Around midnight, a pregnant woman in a flood-affected remote area suddenly began to experience severe labor pains. The situation quickly became complicated. However, due to the water accumulating all around, there was no way for any vehicle to travel on land. Even an ambulance or any professional rescue team found it practically impossible to reach there.

In a state of extreme helplessness, family members called the Bhutni Thana for police assistance. Upon learning about the condition of the pregnant woman, the duty officer at the station quickly sprang into action. Without wasting any time, a team of police set out in the darkness of the night with a rescue boat towards the incident site.

According to police sources, due to the darkness all around, the police personnel had to rely on the light of a torch to navigate the perilous waterway. They finally reached the woman's house by rowing the boat through the strong current.

Then, with utmost caution, the laboring woman was lifted into the boat. The police took her to the nearest rural hospital, accompanied by family members, crossing the dark waterway.

In the terrifying situation of the flood, when many people in remote areas have become effectively isolated, the police's prompt action has garnered praise from the locals. Alongside maintaining law and order, the humanitarian role played by the Bhutni Thana police in standing by the common people in times of danger is seen as a precedent by the locals.

This kind of initiative by the administration and police to deliver emergency services to isolated areas in floodwaters is providing some reassurance to the affected people.
