Overcoming Flood Woes, Durga Puja Preparations Begin, Organizers Await Mother's Arrival

**Maldah:** Slowly overcoming the woes of the flood, the organizers of the Bhutni Puja in Maldah are preparing for Durga Puja. The stagnant water in the area has significantly reduced. However, there is still some river water in front of a few Durga Puja pandals. The organizers have gradually started preparations for the puja, hoping that the situation will return to normal in the coming days.

According to the **Domnatola Sarbajanin Durga Puja Committee**, water has been receding rapidly for the past two days. Just two days ago, there was almost a foot of water in front of the pandal, creating uncertainty regarding the puja preparations. However, with some improvement in the situation, the artisans have started the work of making the idols.

On the other hand, the **Shankartola Sarbajanin Durga Utsav Committee** has also begun the initial work of idol making. The artisans have started constructing the framework for the idols. The organizers stated that as soon as the water recedes, they have begun their work. If the situation remains normal, this year too, the Durga Puja will be organized smoothly. They are also hopeful of receiving government grants.

The MLA of Manikchak, **Gourchandra Mandal**, has assured support to the puja organizers. He claims that although there is still water in front of a few puja pandals, it will recede within the next two days.

The MLA further stated that if any puja pandal or temple has been damaged due to the flood, swift action will be taken. He also assured that necessary assistance will be provided to ensure that there are no shortcomings in the organization of Durga Puja. He claims that the state government stands by all puja organizers.

Having weathered the blow of the flood, Bhutni is now gradually returning to the preparations for the festival. The organizers hope that once the water completely recedes, decorations for the pandals and other arrangements will begin in full swing.
