Provision of fodder for livestock alongside flood-affected people, praised by Bhutni police
**Maldah:** The vast area of Bhutni in Manikchak is submerged due to a devastating flood. One after another, villages have been inundated, severing communication lines. In this difficult situation of disaster, the Malda district administration and Bhutni police have once again set an example of humanity by standing beside the affected people.
Not only in rescue operations or delivering relief, but the police personnel have also extended a helping hand towards livestock and other domestic animals alongside the flood-affected people. This initiative by Sub-Inspector (SI) Hira Sheikh and his team has brought relief among the victims.
Due to the flood, several villages in Bhutni have become waterlogged. In the meantime, the police received news that a woman in a waterlogged house had become seriously ill and needed immediate medical attention. Without delay, the Bhutni police reached the scene by crossing the difficult waterway with a boat.
The sick woman was rescued from the waterlogged house and taken to a safe place by boat. The police then arranged for her to be quickly taken to the hospital. Despite the strong currents of the flood and adverse conditions, the police's prompt action provided significant relief to the family members.
However, the police's humanitarian initiative did not stop here. They also noticed the plight of livestock due to a lack of relief in the flood-affected areas. With the help of a local kind-hearted individual, SI Hira Sheikh and his team arranged fodder for the trapped domestic and livestock animals.
On one hand, dry food and drinking water are being delivered to the affected people, while on the other hand, food is also being provided for the livestock trapped in the flood. This humanitarian role of the police during the disaster has been particularly praised by the flood-affected people.
Alongside maintaining law and order, the initiative to stand by the common people in times of danger and show compassion towards helpless animals is seen by the local residents as a bright example of humanity.
