Protest at Kolkata Municipal Corporation Against Engineer's Arrest, Nearly 500 Engineers Sit in the Corridor

**Own Correspondent, Kolkata:** Tension erupted at the Kolkata Municipal Corporation following the arrest of a sub-assistant engineer from the building department of Ward No. 9 in connection with the Taratala warehouse disaster. The court has ordered four days of police custody for the arrested municipal worker. In protest against this arrest, engineers from various departments of the corporation participated in the demonstration on Monday morning.

It is alleged that on this day, sub-assistant and assistant engineers from various departments of the corporation gathered to protest against the action taken against the arrested engineer. Nearly 500 engineers joined the protest by sitting in the corridor of the municipal corporation.

The main demands of the protesters include the immediate release of the arrested engineer and no suspension action against him. Additionally, the protesting engineers have also called for the removal of the director of the building department of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.

The engineers have expressed their anger over the arrest of their colleague. They claim that no action should be taken against a single municipal worker by blaming this incident. For this reason, they have demanded the release of their colleague along with the removal of the director of the building department.

The engineers participating in the program have also called for a 'pen down' campaign. That is, it has been decided to stop work and protest until their demands are met, as stated by the protesters.

As a result, on one hand, there is administrative activity surrounding the arrest in the investigation of the Taratala warehouse disaster, and on the other hand, the protest of the municipal engineers—both have created a tense situation at the Kolkata Municipal Corporation on Monday.
