Massive Cough Syrup Seized Again from Same Godown in Mangolbari, 57,600 Bottles Confiscated

**Malda:** Just a week after the last incident, a massive quantity of banned cough syrup has been recovered, causing a stir in Malda. The BSF and police have seized 57,600 bottles of cough syrup from the same godown in the Nalduvi area of Old Malda.

According to police sources, based on a tip-off, a joint operation was conducted by the 29th Battalion of BSF in Narayanpur and Malda police in the Nalduvi area. A total of 400 cartons of cough syrup were recovered from the godown during the search. Each carton contained 144 bottles. In total, 57,600 bottles of banned cough syrup have been seized.

The police's initial estimate suggests that this large quantity of cough syrup was stockpiled for smuggling into Bangladesh. There have been allegations of such syrup being trafficked across the border as a narcotic substance. Investigators initially estimate the market value of the seized items to be over a crore.

Notably, on August 2, a significant amount of cash amounting to nearly 2.5 crore and a large quantity of cough syrup were recovered from the Mangolbari area. Investigators are looking into whether there is a connection between that incident and the current seizure. According to investigators, it has been initially revealed that the materials stored in this godown were linked to the arrested drug dealer Pintoo Sarkar.

However, the police and BSF have begun an investigation into who else is behind this massive quantity of cough syrup and how it was planned to be trafficked towards the border. Investigators are examining various angles to uncover the entire trafficking network.

The seized cough syrups have been taken into custody by the BSF. An investigation is ongoing to identify those involved in the incident.
