The Boat is Now the Only Hope! Bhutni Police Station Submerged in Knee-Deep Water, Police Stand by Flood Victims
**Own Correspondent, Malda:** Continuous rain and rising water levels of the Ganges have led to a worsening flood situation in the Bhutni area of Malda's Manikchak block. A vast area is now submerged. From residential houses and agricultural fields to government offices—multiple areas are under water. The situation has also affected the Bhutni police station. The police station premises are submerged in knee-deep water.
However, despite the adverse conditions, the police personnel of Bhutni police station have practically relied on boats to ensure that their services are not disrupted. Although the police station and surrounding areas are flooded, officers and police personnel are monitoring the situation by riding in boats. Rescue and assistance efforts are underway to reach the water-logged people.
Police personnel are reaching various flood-affected villages by boat. In addition to checking on distressed individuals, arrangements are being made to relocate the elderly, children, and sick individuals to safer places. If necessary, they are being taken to higher embankments or safe shelters. It has also been reported that several boats have been kept ready for emergency rescue operations.
