FIR Against Mamata Banerjee by Kolkata Police for Violating High Court Order
**Kolkata:** Kolkata Police has filed an FIR against former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for allegedly holding a meeting in violation of a High Court order. The case was registered at Hastings police station in connection with the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad meeting held on Cathedral Road near Birla Taramandal on Friday. Reports indicate that a case has also been filed against the organizers of the student organization in the same incident.
According to police sources, on August 28, Sub-Inspector Apoo Baidya filed a written complaint. The complaint states that Mamata Banerjee and the meeting's organizers incited supporters in violation of the High Court's order during the meeting held on Cathedral Road. The police claim that the meeting led to a chaotic situation.
The police allege that several supporters removed barricades set up at the meeting site. There were also reports of scuffles between some supporters and police personnel deployed to maintain law and order. The police had to intervene to control the situation.

Police sources claim that according to the High Court's order, the meeting was supposed to take place on one lane of Cathedral Road, while the other lane was to remain open for traffic. However, the police allege that this order was not properly followed.
The police claim that one lane of the road was effectively blocked due to the meeting, resulting in severe traffic congestion in the area. Additionally, it is alleged that the time frame set by the court for the meeting from 12 PM to 3 PM was also not adhered to.

According to police sources, multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code have been invoked against Mamata Banerjee and the meeting's organizers. These include **criminal conspiracy, disobedience to government orders, endangering life or personal safety of others, obstructing a public servant in the discharge of duty, and creating obstruction in public passage**.
The Hastings police have begun an investigation into the incident. It has been reported that they are reviewing video footage of the meeting, information available with the police, and statements from police personnel deployed at the scene.
### What did the Chief Minister say on Friday?
Notably, after the meeting on Cathedral Road on Friday, Chief Minister Shuvendu announced that an FIR would be filed against Mamata Banerjee. At the end of the Rakhi Bandhan festival in Jadavpur, he alleged that although a part of the road was supposed to remain open as per the court's order, it was not followed.
The Chief Minister claimed that the blockage of the road due to the meeting caused inconvenience to the public. He instructed the police to file an FIR and also to approach the court.
