**Kolkata:** The fire department has launched a special inspection to strengthen fire safety measures in the city’s commercial areas before the Puja. Fire officials inspected various commercial establishments and shopping spaces in the Kamak Street area to assess fire safety measures.
The inspection list included multiple commercial establishments, including Pantaloons. During the Puja season, the crowd in these areas increases significantly for shopping. Therefore, special attention is being given to ensure that any fire or accident can be controlled quickly.
Fire officials checked fire extinguishers, fire alarms, emergency exits, and electrical safety systems at various establishments. They also examined whether there are adequate arrangements to evacuate the general public and staff safely in case of an emergency.
