Panic in Khaskol due to Ganga Erosion, 43 Houses Demolished! Government Relief for Affected Families

**Maldah:** Panic has spread in the Khaskol area of the English Bazar police station under the Manikchak assembly constituency due to the erosion of the Ganges river. Manikchak MLA Gourchandra Mandal, along with Additional District Magistrate Anindya Sarkar and local block administration officials, visited the area to assess the erosion situation.

On this day, administrative officials inspected the erosion prevention work on-site in the Khaskol area along the riverbank. They reviewed the river's course and the erosion situation, as well as the ongoing work to prevent further erosion.

According to local sources, nearly **43 houses have already been demolished** due to fears of Ganga erosion. It has been reported that a decision has been made to relocate the risky houses to prevent them from being swept away by the river.

Currently, the members of those 43 families who lost their homes have taken shelter at the **Khaskol High School**. The administration has provided government relief materials to the affected families staying there.

Concern among local residents regarding Ganga erosion is increasing. On one hand, work is underway to prevent river erosion, while on the other hand, many families have become homeless after losing their houses. In addition to the administration's prompt action to address the situation, attention is also being given to the rehabilitation of affected families and necessary assistance.
