Police Prevents Minor's Marriage in Dhuliyan, Minor Also Detained with Mother

**Murshidabad:** A secret arrangement for a minor's marriage was underway. Upon receiving the news, the police from the Samsherganj police station halted the ceremony before it could take place. The minor girl, along with her mother, was taken to the police station. The incident occurred on Wednesday night in the Gazinagar area of Ward 9 of Dhuliyan Municipality in Murshidabad. The incident has created a stir in the area.

According to police sources, a 16-year-old girl's marriage was being secretly arranged. Although family members tried to keep the matter hidden, the news somehow reached the police. As soon as the information was received, the police from the Samsherganj police station, part of the Jangipur police district, quickly arrived at the scene.

The police stopped all arrangements for the minor's marriage. At the same time, the minor and her mother were taken to the police station. Officials from the block administration were also present at the scene along with the police. They spoke with family members and made them aware of the legal consequences of marrying off the minor.

According to the law, it is prohibited to marry off a girl before the age of 18. Despite repeated awareness campaigns by the administration to prevent child marriage, reports of secret arrangements for such marriages continue to emerge from various places.

The police are investigating who else was involved in the minor's marriage arrangements, whether any parties were contacted for the marriage, and if any other family members had a role in this.

The Samsherganj police have initiated an investigation into the entire incident. It is reported that further steps will be taken in accordance with legal procedures.
